Bwindi Forest National Park Safari

These 5 days safari in Uganda, takes you to two of the top national parks famous for a unique primate’s safari experience and a visit to one of the great and deepest lake in East Africa Lake Bunyoyi for quiet and peaceful night surrounded by cool breeze from the lake. you will also visit Kibale forest national park for chimpanzee trekking and rewarding with sightings of other primate’s species including the Red-tailed Monkeys, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, L’Hoest Monkeys, Vervet Monkeys, Olive Baboons, Blue Monkeys, Grey Cheeked Mangabeys among others. the park is endowed with 13 species of primates with the Chimpanzees being the prime attraction in the park. After you will transfer to the home of the mountain gorillas Bwindi impenetrable forest where you will also encounter other primates, bird species among other attractions. The park has also got several other activities including; Batwa community trail, Bird watching among others.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest National Park.

After morning breakfast at the Hotel, the company driver/guide will pick you up by 7: 00am.He will brief you about your safari and after you will start your journey driving to Kibale national park. the park is located in western region of the country via Kampala to fort portal highway and about 26 km southeast of fort portal town. You will have lunch in fort portal ahs you proceed to the park. On arrival, you will check in to the lodge for relaxation and later Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and afternoon Bigodi (optional)

Rise up early for morning Breakfast and proceed to park head quarters for a briefing about the dos and the Don’ts while in the forest tracking the chimps and while with the chimpanzees. After you will be divided in groups of 6 people per chimpanzee group. The trek normally lasts for about 1-6hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees. chimpanzee trekking is less stramineous since the chimps live in low land areas therefore, located them may not take a much longer time although it’s not guarantee, since they are wild. when you find them, you will be allowed a period of one hour with them, studying their behaviors, watch them play, feed and groom young ones and also you will take pictures for your memories.
After, you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation and the rest of the evening stay at the lodge.
optional: afternoon Bigodi swamp walk, the swamp is popular as bird watchers’ paradise, perfect for bird enthusiasts. you will encounter various bird species and also spot various primate species including the chimps who also frequent visitors.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

After a relaxed morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and exit the park and start another exiting journey to home of the Mountain Gorillas, Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park. on the way you will enroute lunch and also enjoy the scenic views of the Kigezi hill, terraced farmlands, rolling hills among others. proceed to the park, upon arrival, check in to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Bwindi Gorilla trekking and transfer to lake Bunyonyi.

Rise up early for morning breakfast and with your parked lunch at the hotel, proceed to the parks headquarters where you will join others and the park rangers for short briefing about the rules and regulations for gorilla trekking. After, you will be put in groups of 8 members and even gorilla group for trekking other groups are nearer and easy to trek whereas others a bit difficult since the gorillas some times move deeper in to the forest. Thus, requires once physical fitness to hike through the forest. you will be led by an experienced guide in to the forest to start the trek, with the guidance of the advance trekkers who move early by the break of down to seek out the gorillas for you, you will be able to trek for about 18 hours depending on the location of the gorillas on that particular day. while in the forest, you will also see some other primate species like the monkeys, animals like the forest elephant, different bird species and butterflies.
when you have finally located the gorillas, you will be allowed one hour with them, observing them, watch them play, feeding, grooming young ones among other activities. you will also be given time for photography but rem, flash cameras are not allowed. After, you will exit the forest and return to the lodge for relaxation and afternoon, you will transfer to lake Bunyonyi one of beautiful and deepest lake in East Africa. On arrival, you will check in to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Explore Lake Bunyonyi and depart for Kampala

After morning breakfast, you will go on a canoe boat to explore some of the Islands found in Lake Bunyonyi. lake Bunyonyi is one of the second deepest lakes and comprises of over 29 Islands, during the boat, you will be in company of an experienced guide to explore some of the Islands including the Punishment Island where unmarried pregnant Bakiga girls were left to die in isolation among others of great interest.
Return to the lodge and check out of the lodge and start your journey back to Kampala with enroute lunch. on arrival, the driver will drop you off the Entebbe airport for your flight home or at your proffered location.
