Getting To Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is situated in the southwestern region of Uganda which is one of Uganda’s main national parks to encounter the highest population of the mountain gorillas and the only remaining population of the mountain gorillas in the world, Bwindi has got the biggest population of the habituated Gorilla families divided in four different sectors of the park including; Buhoma which was the first sector where the first gorilla family was habituated. other sectors include; Rushaga, Nkuringo and Ruhija sector where gorilla trekking is done, during the activity, you will be led by an experienced ranger/guide in search for the gorillas in the forest. All trekkers are required to have a valid gorilla trekking permit which acts as agate pass for you to be able to see the gorillas in their natural habitat.
The gorilla permit has per now costs $700 per person, per permit tracking.
The distance from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda is approximately 470 kilometers (292 miles) by road. Bwindi Impenetrable national park can also be reached from Queen Elizabeth national park in Mweya which estimates 170 kilometers and takes about 3 hours by road.
Also, you can access Bwindi from Kabale-Ruhija-Buhoma the driving distance cover about 100kilometers and from Nkuringo route it takes about 90 kilometers which is about 2.5 hours’ drive.
Alternatively, you can fly to Bwindi, there are domesticated flights from
Kajjansi Airfield or Entebbe by Aero link airline or eagle air to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip and takes about 1:15 hours then from landing, you will be picked up by the safari driver/ guide and transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park. Also note that; Visitors trekking gorillas in Buhoma sector, are advised to use a chartered plane to Kayonza Airstrip.
